Location: From northern Argentina to the West Indies, Central America, and southern parts of the USA

This golden-yellow fringed butterfly has no tails. It is dark, and the hindwings usually have a green luster. The underside is patterned with red. These swallowtails are distasteful to birds. It prefers open woods, abandoned fields and disturbed areas.
